More Easy Less Fresh!

I know a Fresh & Easy driver in the US with the same problem in regards to the Tesco not washing out the trailers prior to reloading. Tesco is opening new stores under the name Fresh and Easy all over the Phoenix Arizona and metropolitan area and they seem to be using the same bad habits as far as not washing the trailers after each delivery and pickup (usually plastic containers, bread racks and cardboard. They haven't encountered the same hideous conditions as the European drivers (as yet) but they seem to be following their practice of not washing dirty trailers.

Oh for goodness sake. Is that the best you can come up with? Do you seriously expect all trailers to be washed out after every delivery? Fair enough. Hope your prepared to pay the higher prices for food then. Get a grip!

I'd like to know if, Sainsbury's, ASDA/Wal-Mart & Morrisons clean all their trailers after every delivery! I don't think so.

Some people will try and find any crappy excuse to moan about supermarkets such as Tesco these days!

Hello I am currently working at the kitchen in Riverside, California located off of Catus. I have some concerns with the existing work conditions at the plant, kitchen, and stores.

This letter was made to give brief information on concerns.

My first compliant is the racial, mental, and physical treatment of the workers( In which i'll only inform the company of a fraction of the issues, and I will not be addressing all the issues upon writing this letter).
Fresh and easy is a Marxists chain of command that is unethical and is shown to be unresearched. I have thought very hard as to what i wanted to convey, and express as a individual.
Working at fresh and easy has open my eyes to capital America, in which fresh and easy does not care about their workers, but merely productivity and surplus. Being a worker at fresh and easy I've observed the mistreatment of workers, unjustifiable write ups, terminations, racism amongst managers and team leads, belittling and defamation of individuals character (I myself self have experienced most of those above). Example, on May 22, 2008 during the routine Thursday meeting we were told by Kevin " if you do not take your last break during your last working hour , fresh and easy has the right to forfeit breaks." Under labor laws workers are required receive 2 ten minute breaks plus a 30 minute meal break. On record I have 39 breaks not received in the 10 months I have worked for this company. The hiring of illegal immigrants, the temp agency for which the company contracts their workers, do not require social security identification, and back ground checks. I personally know 3 illegal immigrants working for the company(Labor laws prohibit employment of illegals), and 4 individuals of whom began working at fresh n easy less than an month of being released from prison, not to be confused from county jail. The defamation of character, the managers and team leads of fresh and easy have made a mockery of defaming individuals character and dignity, I have many individuals past and present employee's that will collaborate with these statement. The professional misconduct of managers and workers, in the Kitchen, I know of 5 managers having unprofessional and improper relations with their workers which leads to promotion and favoritism. Example, I have solid evidence through myself and other existing and non existing fresh and easy workers linking Pam and Paul, Sydney with Patty and Jackie, Richard with Cat, Neil with several women, and a manager that no longer works with the company.
I am sending this letter to express just a fraction of things going on in your kitchen, your managers have broken the laws in more ways than one; and I'm sending this letter to give the company time to address these problems. I have to admit the company is smart for hiring uneducated individuals that are to afraid to speak out, for fear of losing their jobs, but I myself and counter parts are not those individuals. Fresh and easy threatens our employment due to the economic status, but what your company is doing is unethical and unconstitutional when relating to the law. Fresh and easy not only practices alienation, but also exploitation of workers and it has to end. I am sending you this letter and also a copy to proper authorities, that will contain all other supporting documents, which include evidence from a 7 month period of pictures, tape recording, day by day note taking and etc. . My name is not Joan sorry about that. Me and the others will reveal our names to the proper authorities. Me and my counter parts expect contact from fresh and easy as soon as possible or we will take our concerns as void, and will pursue our concerns withe proper authorities. We feel these are important issues that should not be ignored. Take care and hire people who not only care about pushing productivity but also the laws and job policies.

Two items I've purchased at Fresh & Easy Los Angeles have grown large amount of mold spores within days of purchase. I know business is slow and many items in the store have expiration dates coming up or at that date, but to purchase somethings "current" and have mold all over them within days is alarming. What kind of operation is this?

All of this information that this employee has stated is true. I have information to back this up and I can truely say the upper management has ignored all attempts to convey this information. There has been homes destroyed, families broken up, and much much more. I contemplated going to the media but I don't know which way to turn. It seems like management has a conspiracy going against the employees that won't engage in these immoral acts. This work environment is a joke! If anyone has somewhere legit that I can talk to someone please put it on this site..

It's the same crap at the Phoenix stores. Managers that yell at you, Team leads that talk to you like you're the scum of the earth. Overworked, Underpaid is what the store should be called.

I work for tescos and have many health problems. I have worked for tescos for coming on to 5 years. Since being there my health has deteriorated and become hard to manage. I have epilepsy, diabetees, Problems with the rythm of my heart and potasium problems which all affects my more seirous issues. I have recently had the functioning of my kidneys and liver become a concern. I have learned so well to deal with the problem that I return to my work after fitting or a hypo and even after a black eye through falling! More oftern than not I return to work after recuperating for a while. I have been treated remarkably by my section manager and by my colleuges but the seniour team have done nothing but bully me and make threats such as 'don't do this again!' leave the bulding as soon as you feel unwell, told first aiders to step over me, repremanded firstaiders for too many people helping me. I was put on life support before they even took it seriously. Not to mention that the reason I ended up on life support was due to a member of staff who was particularly ignorant to my condition told me I was having a panic attack and left me to it even though I begged him for help telling him that my heart wasn't beating propperly and that my sugar level was 2. He knew exactly what was wrong with me after it had been made known after a lot of attempts for it to be known for my own saftey. The manager in question put his cigarrette out and left me saying you are just having a panic attack. This was at around 7pm I was ventilated in hospital in the early hours of the morning after eventually suffering status epilepticus and fitting for more than 4hours. even then I had a manager ringing and asking why I wasn't answering the calls knowing full well I was on life support! Due to my fear of being pulled in the office for another welcome back and a.r with all the ' this could lead to a disaplinary shit', I came back to work within 3 weeks of being on life support. By me returning quicker my percentage would not be too high. I am covered by the d.d.a but that makes no difference to the ignorance and inhuman response the senior team have. I again was taken to hospital a year following the last visit with not only a hypo a life threatening fit where I was rescusitated on the premasis but with a blood infection also. After this through the fear of being dissaplined I returned to work within 2 weeks! I have rang in sick only twice in 5 years and that was not for fits but for a cold and a stomach upset. I have never rang in to say that I have had a fit., I have only ever been sent home and usually it is maybe an hour of my shift I may not have worked. With all of my health problems I always go in to work and always work hard and much harder than some who are not ill. I have a percent at the moment of 4.

I get the senior staff almost look scared of me! I have also been told that they are! because if I were to be unwell they are scared but no matter how much information is provided to help them to understand a little more they are just to ignorant to want to know. I have heard that they would bet in there team 5 if I would be unwell as if it were a joke. It took many doctors reports and serious incients to have them understand that this wasn't a doss. They are now well aware of the seriousness of this but now they use that against me in respects that maybe I am not fit to work. I have arms and legs and I am not stupid and I am young and the life I have ahead of me will be a normal one. I will not give up work until they fire me or I am burried and I don't see why I should not work. I am a good worker and always do my job well. I am sick and I have problems sometimes with staying well but I work to the best of my ability and most in there do not condem me but respect my persistance in remaining 'normal'.
I have recently had an a.r that ended up in them telling me that the next one may lead to a disaplinary and that they can not forsee me not being fired for this. They are totaly inhuman and there is one lady in our store that got her final written warning for having cancer!! That is just discraseful. I go in to work each day wondering if I will have a job at the end of it. I have photosensative epilepsy too and they have just decided recently to put all there lights on sensors! not to mention that half of the time some of them are flasing because they are not working propperly. If I am not being flashed in the face every place I go I am being flashed in the face from one that isn't working properly.
I have done all they have asked in helping myself. I eat every 2 hours I take my sugar levels regularly I take my medications, I do all in my power to stay well but it is not always possible to know when I may be ill and sometimes it just happens and even so I will go and return to my position. I sustained a black eye and still returned to my work to finish the waste because I will prove that even though I have an illness I can carry out the duty I am there for. I break more than maybe some members of staff but because they give you a sense of guilt it is hard to do this when I should. They tell me to do it and act all concerend that they want to help me and then they will be clocking when I am having a break so how is that helping. they either want us staff to help ourselfs and carry out our next steps or not! really and trully even if your legs are hanging off they want you on the shop floor working like a donkey, they are all a bunch of monkeys. I say this for the senior team as the team closest to me are fantastic as they have tryed to understand and help and they have been a pillar of strength even though they then get it for being supportive! It is totaly crazy the way they work at the top especially. They do not care about us staff they do not even a little bit. It all seams to get sorted out and they have understanding and then the managers change AGAIN! and the whole process starts again. I feel totaly bullied at work. I have now a case of total paranoia too about it all. I now go in to work worrying and that makes matters so much worse. I would be atleast 50percent better in health within tescos if I didn't go in with such worry and fear of being unwell. I have recently gone to the toilets if I am feeling unwell or feel my sugars are low so that I can try and sort myself out with no fuss. Sometimes this has worked and I have even had a fall in there but still sorted myself out and returned to work. other times it has not worked out and I have been found unwell and then the seniour team know again that I have been a problem! that is all I feel. I do not worry about me at all I worry about what they are thinking, saying and weather I will still have a job. I have been to hell and back in tescos and I will not be beaten, I will continue to work and I wil work to the best of my ability. I am incredibly lucky that I have the people I do around me in work who understand me and are there for me always and to be really honest I feel if it wernt for them and especially my trully caring section manager who is a good friend now, I beleive I would no longer be employed at tescos as she has faught in my corner every time. She has even had me laying on chairs asleep in the managers office until she has left work in able to take me home just so that there is no fuss caused with possible gossipers. It is discraseful that people who are that sick are made to feel so awful and discriminated against. Tescos want me out without a doubt and the d.d.a have made it a little harder for them but how long this will last I am not sure. I was told last week that the d.d.a doesn't mean that they can not fire me for this. one word for tescos treatment of there less lucky in health staff is DISCUSTING. the work I do for them far outways the work that I don't while I maybe take some time out but I make the effort and effort is better than just being damn lazy like some of there staff. there sayings, one team. praise more than critisise,bla bla bla is all bull shit.

Honestly, how far do you really expect any company to go to accommodate your seemingly never-ending list of problems. So you have only called in sick a couple of times but you clearly have huge amounts of unproductive time due to your health conditions. Maybe it's time to find another line of work where your health problems - that are no fault of the company - won't cause such a problem for you.

it might not seem such a big deal to any of you`s but when u go to put your heating on at 10.40 pm n relieze your out of gas, you dont drive so your sort of relying on tescos (when you have kids in your home) you hav a gas cooker etc, it becomes a matter of emergency.
i ran round to tescos as i know they close at 11 pm. i got there at 10.50 pm went straight up to the counter n asked the staff to top me up on my card she said `no the gas machine is off for the night` so i walked round the store 2 see if they sold hot water bottles or anything by the time i was finished looking i was back at the counter waiting to be served by 10.56 pm to grab some fags. the staff left me waiting till 10.59 before one of them came to serve me. i asked for 20 fags she said `no, we`re closed now, we cant serve you` i looked at my watch n said `no its 10.59` she replied `we have got homes to go to aswell you know` i said `yes your nice warm homes, when im going back to my kids, there father and a freezing cold house, cos you couldnt be bothered to serve me gas` she then said `well you should of come in earlier then, should`nt you` by this time i was not impressed with her attitude or the way i was being treated. i told her `i can come at any time of the day, u close at 11 pm so i think your`ll find im able to come here up till then, i dont need you telling me when i can n cant come to my local tescos, im writing to head office cos this is`nt the first time ive been treated like this`. she then walked round the counter n sold me the fags. so after all that she could of sold me them in the first place.
i bet i could of got gas aswell

WHAT a LYE 39 breaks not received bull if they watch every time you clock in and out for brake if you miss a brake you get fired they make sure you take your brakes on time !!!! and as for the trailers being washed the drives don't know if they are because when they show up for work there all ready loaded and sealed that's the best lye's you can come up with ? and yes there food molds fast because its organic, come up with better things people like how they dont hire temps they say they will hire in 4 months but after all most 2 years most are temps still , anything food touches is clean its a good place to work all but there hiring you guys are a bunch of retards there food comes in and leaves the same day to the store food isn't stored at the distribution , the only thing wrong is they need to keep there word and hire ,

The agency has hired illegals. I was there and I know one of the persons that was caught and is now going to court. I also know of another employee who never came back because he got deported. It was weird how his name was not as I thought... Yes, there is favoritism
in the kitchen. If you get along with leads and managers, you will be good. If not, expect the worse. I have also witness a lead pulling on a woman's shoulder because she did not set up the depositor correctly. Isn't illegal for someone to put there hands on you??? The lady was scare and she didn't even want to go to h.r. Because she was scare. It is sad, how some people do not know their rights. Yes, the break statement is very true. I probably missed about half of my breaks, throughout my whole time working there. Clocking in and out for break just began about last year 2010. Before that it was not required. However, I missed breaks after the rule started and I have not gotten fired. Managers always want to threat employees with their jobs. I know they do not follow all FDA regulations and do not document true facts. It is so sad how we are suppose to live in a country were we have rights, but we don't. Managers do mess around with lower employees and they play favoritism!! I am runningbout of time, I will come back and update.
