Tesco's Wii on ebay?

Good morning Mr Leahy, I would like to make a complaint about your Tesco Llansamlet store. I have a disabled husband who has decided in the last couple of weeks, like so many others, that he would like a Nintendo Wii. He fully accepted that he may not get one for Christmas as he had not pre-ordered anywhere. Wanting to make it a nice Christmas for him, I decided that I would try wherever I could to get hold of one for him. One of those places was your store in Llansamlet.

I went to the Llansamlet store yesterday to enquire if they had any stock, only to be told they had just run out having had 28 in. I was advised that I could not reserve one should they come back into stock which I fully accept. The store policy is to announce over the tannoy that they have just had a delivery and they are sold on a first come first served basis. This I also fully accept.

I finished my shopping and proceeded to go to customer services after a mix up with my clubcard points on one of the self service tills. Whilst I was being served, a member of your staff proceed to talk over my shoulder to the gentleman serving me which, in itself is very rude. They were quite happily talking away about how Leon had put a Nintendo Wii away for her to buy when the delivery came in and how much they were going for on ebay.

This is where I have the problem. How is the general public supposed to be able to get hold of these sought after items if they are never going on sale. Was that member of staff actually buying that item for herself or to make a fortune ripping people off on ebay? How many of the allocation went to staff? Surely if it is a first come first served situation, that member of staff could not have come off the till or wherever she was to buy the item and therefore your staff are receiving preferential treatment.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this matter.

Yours Sincerely,
Judith

How the hell is your disabled husband gonna play a Wii?

Just what does that have to do with the point of the complaint? At least try and be constructive.

I've witnessed on a number of occasions members of staff taking limited or quick selling products from the shelves to put by for later. Some of these may not matter too much, but when it's a highly desirable item like the Wii then it shouldn't be allowed.

If staff want one then they should try and get one in the same way as everyone else. I'm sure if they asked they could get their break at the same time as they went on sale.

It sounds like the member of staff may well have been planning to sell it on, which, if they were using their staff discount on the item, is also against the rules of the scheme.

Love the headlines - you guys must be tabloid journos!

boohoo I didnt get a Wii, cry me a river....

Staff holding stock before paying for the item is against company policy and would be a misconduct. I would not allow any of my staff to do this.

bollocks to the above any Usdaw rep would get you off any alleged misconduct in this instance oh and if you are infact a manager you obvously dont believe in working shoulder to shoulder.

Its a small perk of the job, it comes on delivery you grab it and buy it.

Ive bought 5 and sold 4 and made over £1500 its called supply and demand haha

If the above is true then I hope you die you stinking profiteering scum.

lol just found this site, are all the complaints here this pathetic?

Staff are usually the last to benefit from anything, we cant do our shopping while we work, come the end of the day there is nothing left on the shelves.
All we have is people complaining all day...

oh...and as for usdaw reps...

what a waste of money!! didnt they sell out to the company in a partnership?

right...lets have a look at the story...

u didnt get a wii, so aint happy? know what i say...tuff luck, simple as that.

r tesco staff the only 1's to have 'perks'?? no!

do bank staff have the same interest rates on loans? nope.
do nhs staff really wait on lists as long as the rest of us? nope.

thats just plain simple reality, so deal with it.

y even mention that ur husband has a disibility? doesn't mean a tonk to the 'story' does it? again...nope. just the old extra sympathy and hope of some 'do-gooders' joining the bandwagon.

best tip i can give is get off ur ass earlier and get ur xmas prezzies sorted in advance b4 the mad rush to avoid disappointment.

and how the hell does this site allow people to be named and their place of work given when associated with unsubstantiated hearsay? if it was me, id have my solicitor on the case for defamition of character.

good bye...
