Tesco announces 600 redundancies in Crick

Today Tesco announced 600 (approx) redundancies from their Crick depot. This is becoming a regular occurrence, to the point of my having lost count, but it runs into thousands around the UK in Depots and Service Departments.

I hope they get the best deal possible and wish all who have found themselves in this awful position all the best for the future. I fear todays are not the last. It's not all sunshine and roses, working for Tesco, that's if you are fortunate enough to be allowed to keep your job.

  2. The first time I have worked for Tesco (there have been two occasions) I worked in a Metro store which had to close down. They did there very best to move staff to other stores where there was the option. Although I had only been working there for 8 months I took redundancy (hey I was 16!) which they did not have to give me due to me having not worked there for 12 months. They were very generous with the package I received bearing in mind that I had not worked there long, was only 16 and didn't do that many hours a week.

You can't knock that surely? I'm being made redundant (I'm 23 and this is the second time now!) by the company I work for at present - I don't hold it against them it's something the company has to do due to a merger with a larger company - it was either redundancy or move to Liverpool which is too far away from my family and friends.
